'Edward II' an evocative new adaptation of Marlowe's classic...

Jadis Shadows Productions present their new evocative presentation of Edward II.
The production has been specially adapted and devised for the company from Christopher Marlowe’s classic tale of love, lust and ambition… a tale which tells the tale of the tragic rule and downfall of King Edward II. Edward, a man who was never truly designed to be a monarch, who let his heart rule his head, allowed his passion for another man to influence his each and every decision: whether in matters of state or in regards to more personal intrigues.
Edward has a Kingdom, an army and a court of pleasure at his disposal; yet he also has a wife, a seemingly long suffering wife, who he wedded under instruction from his father. Isabelle, a French Princess of great pride and breeding, displays a controlled and proud manner respected by all, especially regarding her ‘saintly’ reaction to her husband’s openly homosexual romance… yet under the surface murderous rage and exuberant passions brew… passions which, in her turmoil, have risen with force to the forefront of her being. A play of contrasting personalities; of the gulf between emotions openly admitted and enjoyed and those kept locked tight. A play which shows how society sees public figures and judges them due to their public behaviour rather than looking beneath the hypocrisy of façade and of popular opinion.
There is no right or wrong, there is no black or white; simply two people who have been thrown together by fate; yet their personal war of indifference and revenge could, with ease, bring about the fall of a nation.
Touring to Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Central London venues as well as headlining at Nottingham's Pride festival.
Details to follow very soon indeed!

2012 Programme

We are thrilled to announce our basic programme for 2012!

Our Spring/Summer offering will be a new evocative presentation of-
'Edward II'
The production has been specially adapted for the company from Christopher
Marlowe’s classic tale of love, lust and ambition.
Edward II will be director Zak Marsh's premiere production with Jadis Shadows Productions and will excitingly be the our first production presented in a central London venue.

Our Summer tour will be a presentation of a new play written especially for the company-
'The Queen's Heads'
A historical drama revolving around the lives, and deaths, of two of Henry VIII's wives: cousins Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. What did they really feel about their royal husband, what were their hopes and dreams and what finally lead them both facing the dreaded headsman in the Tower of London?

And finally our exciting Autumn presentation-
'Electra' & 'Salome'
Two especially adapted tragedies, by the greats Sophocles and Oscar Wilde, on the same bill!
Both plays focus on two contrasting yet women doomed... one by pride and obsession and the other by her passions and lust... a warning to any who allow their driving emotions to overbear reason.
